Can we help?

What is an Occupational Therapist (OT)?

"Occupational Therapy helps people to live and not just exist."

Occupational therapy provides practical support to empower people to facilitate recovery and overcome barriers preventing them from doing the activities (or occupations) that matter to them. This support increases people's independence and satisfaction in all aspects of life.

Think about your day-to-day life; would you be able to cope or live fully if you didn't have access to the internet? Or couldn't get out of bed in the morning?

What happens at a home visit?

At WE Care & Repair the Occupational Therapist spends a couple of hours with you in your own home completing an hollistic assessment and talking about the things you want to be able to do to be safe and independent at home.

You will be given plenty of time to tell us about the things you would like to be able to do more easily at home and ask any questions you may have.

Our Occupational Therapist may:

• recommend daily living aids you can purchase to help with tasks you're finding difficult.  They may show you pictures and videos of the products if possible.

• suggest other ways you can do tasks to make them easier.

• signpost you to local services in your area where you can find support.

• suggest simple changes you can make or advise on adaptations to your home that could help you live safely and independently.

What credentials and experience do OTs have?

Our Occupational Therapist, Roxy, is a member of the professional body, The British Association of Occupational Therapists which is governed by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists who set the professional standards for the Occupational Therapy profession.  She is also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. This means that you can be sure she is following approved Codes of Conduct.  You can even check she is qualified and registered for yourself at

Our Occupational Therapist has knowledge and experience with working with older and disabled people in their own homes, and is qualified to give professional advice and recommendations about daily living aids and home adaptations.

How much will it cost?

The OT visit will cost £200 - this includes: the home visit itself, a full assessment, a written follow up report with recommendations, and a follow up phone call.  No additional costs are charged for travel. If ongoing support is required, this is charged at £30 per hour but would be agreed with you in the first instance.

How can I find out whether the home visit is right for me?

Contact WE Care & Repair for a free, no - obligation discussion with our friendly colleagues about your needs. If you decide to book a home visit then we can arrange this at a convenient time for you, usually within seven working days.
